1 Scope

1.1 This website is the copyright of the VTS. Its target groups are:

  • The general public, especially appellants and their representatives, for information on the Valuation Tribunal, the appeals process, forms, lists of appeals and Tribunal decisions;
  • Members of the Valuation Tribunal for England (through the Members’ section).

2 Acceptance and Responsibilities

2.1 Use of the website is subject to its terms and conditions and by using the website, to agree to such terms.

2.2 The website and the information contained on it, is not directed at, or intended for distribution to or use by, any person or entity who is resident of, or located in, any jurisdiction where such distribution, publication, availability or use would be contrary to applicable law or regulation or would subject the VTS to any registration or licensing requirement within such jurisdiction. Any person who does not wish to accept these terms and conditions or who knows, or ought to know, of any reason why these terms and conditions might not be capable of applying to their purposes, is not authorised to use this site. These terms apply to each and every visit that a user may make to this site.

2.3 Users are responsible for ensuring that all persons who access the website through an internet connection are aware of these terms and they comply with them.

2.4 The VTS reserves the right to change the terms and conditions at any time, without notice, by posting changes on the website.

3 Security

3.1 In order to ensure that this website remains available to all users, the VTS may monitor network traffic to identify unauthorised attempts to upload or change information or to otherwise cause damage to the site. Anyone using this site expressly consents to such monitoring.

3.2 Unauthorised attempts to modify, alter, deface, destroy or corrupt any information stored on this site or this system, to defeat or circumvent any security features, to probe, scan or test for vulnerabilities, to breach security or authentication measures, to forge TCP/IP headers, to install or attempt to install unauthorised software, to mount Denial of Service attacks or to utilise this system for other than its intended purposes are expressly prohibited and may result in criminal prosecution.

3.3 Any possible criminal activity will be reported, together with any evidence which may be gathered, to the appropriate authorities.

3.4 If a password is provided for use or any other piece of information as part of the VTS security procedures, such information must be treated as confidential and not for disclosure to any third party.

4 Disclaimer of Liability

4.1 Every effort is made to provide useful, accurate and complete information. However, the VTS makes no claims, promises or guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, usefulness or adequacy of the contents of this site and expressly disclaims liability of any sort for errors and omissions. If anyone is in doubt as to the validity of information contained within any page, then they should contact the VTS to seek clarification.

4.2 Neither the VTS, nor its employees, associates nor contractors make any warranty (expressed, implied or statutory). These include, but are not limited to, any warranty that third party rights or title have not been infringed, or any warranty of merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose.

4.3 No warranty of any sort is made with respect to the content of third party sites that have links from this website and all liability of every sort is expressly disclaimed.

4.4 The VTS is not liable in any circumstances for special, indirect or consequential damages or any damages whatsoever resulting from loss of use, loss of data or loss of revenues or profits, whether in an action of contract, negligence or otherwise, arising out of or in connection with any use of the information or services available on this site.

4.5 This site, and documents posted on it may contain hypertext links or pointers to information created and maintained by other public and private organisations. The VTS does not guarantee the accuracy, relevance, usefulness, timeliness, completeness or error free of any linked information, which can be subject to change at short notice. In the event that such change takes place the VTS shall not be liable to the user in any way whatsoever. By allowing links with third party websites the VTS does not intend to solicit business or offer and security to any person in any country, directly or indirectly.

4.6 The inclusion of links or pointers to other sites is not intended to assign importance to those sites and the information contained in them, nor is it intended to endorse, recommend, or favour any views expressed on those sites, or the organisations sponsoring the sites, by trade name, trademark, manufacture, or otherwise.

5 Copyright, trademark and intellectual property rights

5.1 The material featured on this website (not including logos, photographs or video) may be re-used free of charge in any format or medium. It must be re-used accurately and not in a misleading context. The material must be acknowledged as Valuation Tribunal Service copyright and, where appropriate, the title of the source document must be given.

5.2 Where any third party copyright material is identified, permission must be obtained from the copyright holders concerned.

5.3 The website is for non-commercial, personal use only.

5.4 No user may modify, publish, transmit, transfer or sell, reproduce, create derivative works from, distribute, display, or in any way exploit any of the content, in whole or in part, except with the express written agreement of the VTS.

6 Governing Law

6.1 These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and the user explicitly accepts that only the law courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction to deal with any matter arising from or in any way, whether directly or indirectly, related the use of this website and, accordingly, the user explicitly waives all and any rights to bring any action of any sort in relation to this website in any court worldwide.
